A cutie amongst the flowers

Due to finding a couple of batteries, my sister-in-laws' gardens, a sunny day, some help, and the cutest baby in the whole world we were able to capture these spring pictures.

(I love this face)

Yes he is actually trying to eat it

Outfit change- no shirt!

It was hot and he was cooperative.

I think this is a Vernon face. Don't you?

Odds & Ends

A day or so before my birthday my dh brought in this strawberry cake. My Mother-in-law had made me a birthday cake as a surprise for my Dearest to give to me. This is the only picture evidence that I have added another year as our rechargeable camera batteries are not keeping a charge anymore. Because we haven't had any batteries we haven't gotten a lot of pictures recently. In fact we missed a whole visit from my folks because of deceased batteries. However, as you probably know, my sisters didn't miss a thing so pop over there to see what they captured.

Our Growing Church

Last Lord's Day was an exciting day in the life of our church. As a body of believers we have grown over the last few years and the time had come for us to elect some local office bearers. Throughout the month of March the members of the congregation went through the process of election which culminated last Sabbath with an induction and ordination of one elder and one deacon. The messages of the day were delivered by Pastor Warren Gardner and can be heard on Sermon Audio here and here. The messages were encouraging as well as convicting for both the office bearers and the flock (well, at least I know from the flock's position). Our fellowship lunch ended with a celebratory cake, which also happened to be picture time.
Our newly inducted officers.

We all learned how to cut this cake properly. No you don't cut it like a pie!

Children quickly gather around...you should have seen the face of the lucky fella who got the bowl full of icing from off the knife! :)

Fridge DJ

The lovable Fridge DJ from Leap Frog is a favorite of everyone who visits. From the teeny tiny ones of our young siblings to the strong calloused ones of my darling husband the "music button" attracts all fingers. JuneBug is no exception. Since learning which button makes it sing, JuneBug has had hours of fun pushing and chewing on the the beloved Fridge DJ. Just the other week I noticed JuneBug "dancing" to the music. Enjoy the video, I do! :)

Special Meeting

Last month we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Joel Beeke at our church. About 50 people heard in person this wonderful sermon from Genesis 24. Wherever you are in life this 70 minute sermon has something for you. Whether you download it from here or listen to it below you will want a pen and paper. The love of Christ, as Dr.Beeke puts it forth, is absolutely beautiful so you will probably also want a tissue box! The following pictures are a snapshot of the night.

A note to the sistwerps: do you recognize the man behind Papa Vernon? We had a nice little visit with these out-of-towners. (Can't believe this was the only picture I had of any of them!)

I've been waiting for this day...

...for a year and a half. When we were courting my darling told me that when it snows down here everything shuts down and you don't have to go to work. I was hooked. Snow = a free day off. Being from the North I naively thought that it might snow perhaps every other month (calculating for the warmer climate) and my hubby would be able to stay home with me for a couple days every winter. My first winter here it snowed this much:
and he went to work. :(
My second winter here it has been warm and they have called for snow a couple of times but we never saw any. Then on Saturday by word of mouth we heard we could get 4 inches the next day. Ha!! As my Mother-in-law pointed out, "If they call for it, you won't get it". The dreary rain we had had for the last couple of days continued to fall on Sunday morning and although it was chilly my hopes weren't high. Then, (and here is where it starts to get exciting) after our afternoon worship service the kids came in with reports of sleet. Hmmm, it was getting colder..... An hour or two later when we left it was still sleeting and as we got closer to home big white flakes were falling.
We spent the rest of the afternoon tucked away in a little trailer in the woods watching the snow stick to the tree branches and grass. Covering everything in a white blanket, the snow was beautiful. Any northern state would have been proud to own this snow.
With the snow sticking, it was then that I first heard mention of my hubby staying home with me on Monday. I started to get excited. I had been waiting for one of these moments for over a year and finally it was happening.
Monday morning dawned clear and sunny. "The call" to work was made and my dearest turned off his phone. When I laid JuneBug down for his morning nap Hubby and I went outside to play and take pictures. It was a very relaxing day. We were able to get some work done and we were able to just be together.
I can't wait until it snows again!

Birthday Boy gets a package

It's open... what does he get....

Yeah! A t-shirt! Wait a minute he's not the birthday boy...

Looks like they are both happy with the loot.
(JuneBug was more pleased with the sticky note than the t-shirt)
Thanks!
:)

Fishy Lips

This is for Auntie B. The one I remember teaching us to do "fishy lips".

JuneBug was doing this (all on his own I might add) yesterday through his lunch of broccoli/pea medley. I don't know exactly why he was doing it. He has had both veggies before so they weren't new. JuneBug is just too cute for his own good!

We are IT!!!

Our sistwerps tagged us and so we must

1. go to our documents/pictures.

2. go to our 5th file.

3. go to our 5th picture.

4. blog about it.

5. and tag 5 people, who must follow the preceding rules …...

So our picture is (drum roll please)....
Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle J. (l-r) brought us some furniture from our Uncle T & Aunt J who were moving out of the country. One of the nights they were here we went out to eat at a local restaurant, which is where this picture was taken. All of there faces in the picture are pretty funny (I don't think they knew they were getting their picture taken).
Now I tag the Francis 4 b/c I think they are one of the few who (1) actually read my blog (2) have a blog to blog on and (3) haven't done it yet.
Well, I'll also tag my hubby's work blog so I can do this again cause it was kind of fun. :)
Anyone who would like to volunteer for positions 3-5 can be tagged too. Just leave a comment so I can read your post! :)
