They were all over my backyard as a kid - oh, that first sweet day when I would climb the trees to star picking and popping them in my mouth! Mama made tons of fig preserves and jam. They are excellent dried - after living here so many years and never having a fresh one, I began ordering them by the case dehydraded - couldn't keep them on the store shelf! One of my babies' favorite foods when first teething. If you cook them up and put through masher, they make excellent babyfood as well. <br />Missin' figs! (and scuppernongs and muscadines)!
